February 3, 2021 - Prayer - Wrong will be right when Jesus comes in sight

Lord Almighty,

Thank you that your Love is sincere and active and you call us to love in the same way.  Thank you that you do not judge us in the ways the world does, but you judge according to your Truth and what is in our hearts.  Thank you that you call us to hate what is evil, to not tolerate what is wicked, to love sincerely and actively, and to hold tightly to what is good.  Where we, your People, have scales on our eyes as to the reality of this world, cause those scales to fall off and us to regain our sight and be filled with the discernment of the Holy Spirit.  Where we see the "speck" in someone else's life, help us to also recognize and repent of our own "logs."  May Truth be shown in our lives so we may call non-believers in this generation to your Light and Life.  Today we pray that your Light would pour out into places of deep darkness, wickedness, corruption, and hypocrisy and expose these things as the evil they are.  We pray with the Psalmist that the power of the wicked will be broken, in the name of Jesus, and that you would uphold, protect, guide, and strengthen the righteous.   Bring into your Body the men and women you have marked for your Kingdom that are awakening as evil is exposed.  We understand that your Word teaches that, eventually, the cups of iniquity in this world will be filled.  But we believe that the earnest, heartfelt, continued prayer of righteous people makes tremendous power available.  We pray that our prayers would cause your Holy Spirit's power to be poured out upon us and upon this world.  We pray that your Saints will fill the bowls of prayer in heaven and that the iniquity of this world will be overwhelmed by the prayers of your People.  Thank you that no weapon formed against us will prevail and we will refute those who accuse us because we are your servants and have a rich and beautiful heritage from you.  In the midst of the darkness, confusion, hopelessness, and chaos of this world, keep us under your headship; keep us in your wisdom, goodness, favor, and grace as we shine your Light in every dark place.  Thank you that when you come in sight, wrong will be right and at the sound of your roar, sorrows will be no more.  In the powerful, roaring name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen!

"Wrong will be right, when Aslan comes in sight,

At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more,

When he bares his teeth, winter meets its death,

And when he shakes his mane, we shall have spring again."

- From "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" by C.S. Lewis

"Love is to be sincere and active [the real thing—without guile and hypocrisy]. Hate what is evil [detest all ungodliness, do not tolerate wickedness]; hold on tightly to what is good. Be devoted to one another with [authentic] brotherly affection [as members of one family], give preference to one another in honor." (Romans 12:9-10 AMP)

"But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7 ESV)

"So Ananias departed and entered the house. And laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road by which you came has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized; and taking food, he was strengthened." (Acts 9:17-19 ESV)

“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye." (Matthew 7:1-5 ESV)

"For the power of the wicked will be broken,

    but the Lord upholds the righteous." (Psalm 37:17 NIV)

"The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man

makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]." (James 5:16 AMP)

"No weapon forged against you will prevail,

    and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.

This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,

    and this is their vindication from me,”

declares the Lord." (Isaiah 54:17 NIV)

February 2, 2021 Prayer - Pour Out Righteousness and Justice

Righteous God of Justice,

Thank you for the Bible, your Word, which makes us wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.  Thank you that all Scripture is God-breathed, useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, and equipping your children for every good work.  Thank you for your patience and mercy in dealing with us, giving all time to come to repentance.  We know that, like the thief on the cross, even if we live a life completely filled with iniquity, your grace can meet that confessed sin and wipe it clean.  Thank you that you hear the earnest prayers of your righteous people and those prayers have great power.  Today we ask you to judge us as individuals, your Church, and this nation according to your principles of righteousness.  Where we have sinned, cause us to confess and repent of that sin.  Where we have been unfruitful, cause us to sink our spiritual roots deep in your rivers of living water.  Where we have lived in sin, wickedness, corruption, untruths or other sorts of darkness, bring us to a place of crying out to you for healing, forgiveness, and restoration.  Let us be like Nineveh in Jonah's time that repented; not the Nineveh of Nahum's time that was utterly destroyed.  May we not be stubborn and unrepentant, storing wrath up until your righteous judgement is revealed; may we not have itching ears that accumulate teachers that suit our own passions and turn away from your Truth.  You warn us that in the last days there will come times of difficulty as people become lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. May we avoid and not become such people. Restore us, O Lord God of hosts! Let your face shine, that we may be saved!  Rend the heavens and come down that we would quake and tremble at your presence!  No eye or ear has seen or perceived a God besides you who acts for those who wait for him.  We appeal to You for worldwide revival, the destruction of strongholds, and the uncovering of truth in our land and in other nations. We ask for grace and mercy, but we also appeal for justice.  Pour out Your Spirit in a great deluge of power and glory. Do this until we your People, your Church, and this nation are once again a Light to the world, a carrier of the life-giving Gospel, and a beacon of Truth.  In the powerful name of Christ we pray, Amen.

"But the Lord sits enthroned forever;

    he has established his throne for justice,

and he judges the world with righteousness;

    he judges the peoples with uprightness." (Psalm 9:7-8 NIV)

"One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: 'Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!'  But the other criminal rebuked him. 'Don’t you fear God, he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.' Then he said, 'Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.' Jesus answered him, 'Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.'" (Luke 23:39-43 NIV)

"In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.  All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,  so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." (2 Tim. 3:12-17 NIV)

"The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results." (James 5:16 NLT)

"But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed." (Romans 2:5 NIV)

"For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths." (2 Tim. 4:3-4 ESV)

"But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people." (2 Tim. 3:1-5 ESV)

"Restore us, O Lord God of hosts! Let your face shine, that we may be saved!" (Psalm 80:19 ESV)

"Oh that you would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains might quake at your presence— as when fire kindles brushwood and the fire causes water to boil— to make your name known to your adversaries, and that the nations might tremble at your presence! When you did awesome things that we did not look for, you came down, the mountains quaked at your presence. From of old no one has heard or perceived by the ear, no eye has seen a God besides you, who acts for those who wait for him." (Isaiah 64:1-4 ESV)
