February 11, 2021 Prayer - Shelter in the storm

Lord God Almighty,

Thank you for your power and glory, your mercy and grace, your light, life and love that you pour out on your people.  Thank you for the invitation to be your children, held in your hands and sheltered in the shadow of your wings.  Bring us into right alignment to you so we can be fully protected from the winds of adversity that rage about us.  Hide us in the cleft of your rock so that our spiritual flames may be protected.  May we not fall down or faint because the storms of adversity rage, but may we be stronger and bolder because you are strengthening us in this time of storm.  You have warned us that the darkness will increase, but we pray for your Light to increase even more.  Hold forth the light of your presence to show us the Way, and let your Light draw many into your presence.  May you open their eyes to see the deception and lies of the enemy around them and then choose to seek you and your kingdom first and always.  May the spiritual scales on their eyes be sloughed off so these awakened ones will be drawn into the hope and peace you offer through salvation in Christ Jesus.  We pray in Jesus's name that you would break the power of the wicked and uphold the righteous.  Keep us under your Lordship, in divine union with you, the Vine, so we have wisdom, goodness, favor, and grace.  May your Light shine in every dark place.  We pray in Jesus's name, Amen.

"I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings." (Psalm 61:4 NIV)

"Darkness as black as night covers all the nations of the earth, but the glory of the LORD rises and appears over you." (Isaiah 60:2 NIV)

"For the power of the wicked will be broken,
but the Lord upholds the righteous." (Psalm 37:17 NIV)

"In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:16 NIV)
