Psalm 6 Prayer

Lord, do not rebuke us in your anger
    or discipline us in your wrath.
Have mercy on us, Lord, for we are faint;
    heal us, Lord, for our bones are in agony.
Our souls are in deep anguish.
    How long, Lord, how long?

God, with repentant hearts we come acknowledging our sin.  We have not lived up to your callings to us, your chosen children.  We have not done justice, loved mercy, or walked humbly with you.  We have allowed ourselves to be distracted by things - even idols -  that are not of you.  Forgive us, Lord.

Turn, Lord, and deliver us;
    save us because of your unfailing love.
Among the dead no one proclaims your name.
    Who praises you from the grave?
    [But] the Lord has heard our weeping.
The Lord has heard our cry for mercy;
    the Lord accepts our prayer.

Your Word tells us to confess our sins and you will forgive us.  We claim that promise of your grace and forgiveness.  We claim the promise that you will cast our sins from us as far as the East is from the West and that you will wash us whiter than snow.  Thank you for your mercy, thank you for your grace, thank you for our salvation.

In Jesus' name,
Amen
