January 17, 2021 Prayer - Refuge and protection

Almighty, Most High God,

Thank you that you are our refuge and fortress, our God in whom we trust.  Thank you that we who dwell in your shelter can rest in your comfort and peace.  Thank you that you cover us with your spiritual feathers and that under your wings we find refuge.  Thank you that your faithfulness will be our shield and rampart. Protecting God, as this nation moves into this upcoming week, we pray your angel armies would be positioned in such a way to guard, guide, and protect your people.  As the Israelites put blood on their doorframes to warn the angel of death to pass over them, we pray the protection of Jesus's blood covenant over us.  We pray your protection over us in bodies, minds, souls, spirits, immune systems, properties, livelihoods, and relationships.  We pray your protection over us from terrors, pestilence, and plagues - in the name of Jesus we pray that none of these would come near us.  We pray you would cut off the root of evil, wickedness and corruption that threatens your children, and that we will observe with our eyes the punishment of the wicked.  Help us to triumph over the accuser that threatens us by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.  Because you love us, rescue us, protect us, answer and deliver us who call on your name.  Satisfy us with long life and salvation, we pray in Jesus's name, Amen.

"Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High

    will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,

    my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely he will save you

    from the fowler’s snare

    and from the deadly pestilence.

He will cover you with his feathers,

    and under his wings you will find refuge;

    his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

You will not fear the terror of night,

    nor the arrow that flies by day,

nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,

    nor the plague that destroys at midday.

A thousand may fall at your side,

    ten thousand at your right hand,

    but it will not come near you.

You will only observe with your eyes

    and see the punishment of the wicked.

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”

    and you make the Most High your dwelling,

no harm will overtake you,

    no disaster will come near your tent.

For he will command his angels concerning you

    to guard you in all your ways;

they will lift you up in their hands,

    so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

You will tread on the lion and the cobra;

    you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;

    I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

He will call on me, and I will answer him;

    I will be with him in trouble,

    I will deliver him and honor him.

With long life I will satisfy him

    and show him my salvation.”  (Psalm 91 NIV)

“Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt. So this day shall be to you a memorial; and you shall keep it as a feast to the Lord throughout your generations.” (Exodus 12:13-14)

"Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:

'Now have come the salvation and the power

    and the kingdom of our God,

    and the authority of his Messiah.

For the accuser of our brothers and sisters,

    who accuses them before our God day and night,

    has been hurled down.

They triumphed over him

    by the blood of the Lamb

    and by the word of their testimony;

they did not love their lives so much

    as to shrink from death.

Therefore rejoice, you heavens

    and you who dwell in them!

But woe to the earth and the sea,

    because the devil has gone down to you!

He is filled with fury,

    because he knows that his time is short.'” (Rev. 12:10-12 NIV)
