January 20, 2021 - Bind the spirit of violence

Peace-Giving God,

Thank you for your strength and your power that your children can stand in.  Thank you that you are our refuge and ever-present help for the facing of these days.  Today we pray against any spirit of violence that may be planning to act in this nation.  Whether in Washington D.C., a state capital, or in any other public places, we bind that spirit of violence in the name of Jesus and send it to the pit of hell.   We bind any spirit of violence or retaliation that seeks to do harm - whether against the body, mind, emotions, property, or livelihood - of President Trump's supporters or other "Deplorables."  We declare in Jesus's name that there will be no physical violence around the scheduled inauguration, in any protests, or by people just bent on causing chaos.  Instead, we loose a spirit of peace upon this nation.  May your deep peace be poured onto fires of anger, despair, fear-mongering, and general mischief and malfeasance.  As we keep our minds steadfast on you and your ways, may we shine brightly as agents of peace who will reap a harvest of righteousness.   Guard our individual hearts and minds and this nation's heart and mind in Christ Jesus with the deep peace the Holy Spirit plants within us when we follow you as Lord.  In Christ's name we pray, Amen.
