November 10, 2020 Prayer - Worship in Warfare

 God,

With our mouths we join in one spirit to greatly extol you, to give you praise, glory, and honor.  Among the great throng of worshipers we praise you, the Mighty Warrior who is with us and who saves us.  We confidently join together in faith knowing that you have written the stories of all the days of our lives, that you have a plan and a purpose for our lives and for this nation - a future with hope.  We seek you with all our hearts and are assured by your promises, even when we can't see or understand what our future looks like.  We want to be the worship warriors who go before the army and then see the miracles you send, as King Jehoshaphat did in his time. So, by your Spirit stir us up to worship through song, prayer, communion with you - whatever is pleasing to You.  Even when we can't see it, help us believe that you are working all things out for the good of your Church and this nation.  Remind us that you are fighting for us, pushing back the darkness, lighting up a Kingdom that cannot be shaken* because it is of You.  May we be worshippers in Spirit and in Truth, no matter the circumstances of our lives and this nation, because we know you have sought us and that you will continue to bless those who bless you.  In Joy we worship, for the honor of Jesus, AMEN!

"With my mouth I will greatly extol the Lord; in the great throng of worshipers I will praise him."  (Psalm 109:30)

" For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." (Jer. 29:11-13)

"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." (Hebrews 11:1)

"Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” (John 4:23-24)

"The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves." (Zeph. 3:17)

Jehoshaphat bowed down with his face to the ground, and all the people of Judah and Jerusalem fell down in worship before the Lord. Then some Levites from the Kohathites and Korahites stood up and praised the Lord, the God of Israel, with a very loud voice. Early in the morning they left for the Desert of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the Lord your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful.”

After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: “Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever.” As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated. The Ammonites and Moabites rose up against the men from Mount Seir to destroy and annihilate them. After they finished slaughtering the men from Seir, they helped to destroy one another.

When the men of Judah came to the place that overlooks the desert and looked toward the vast army, they saw only dead bodies lying on the ground; no one had escaped. So Jehoshaphat and his men went to carry off their plunder, and they found among them a great amount of equipment and clothing and also articles of value—more than they could take away. There was so much plunder that it took three days to collect it. On the fourth day they assembled in the Valley of Berakah, where they praised the Lord. This is why it is called the Valley of Berakah to this day.  (2 Chronicles 20:18-26)

"I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” (Gen. 12:3)
