December 6, 2020 Prayer - State Legislators in the Battle

God of Wisdom and Power,

Today we pray for state legislators around this nation, and especially in the ongoing election battleground states.  We pray for them to be full of your Spirit and Wisdom as they do the work they are called to do in their roles as legislators, even as they often have families, businesses, etc. they are trying to care for.  While they have Constitutional "maps" giving them some direction, much of the work they are doing pertaining to this election process is in uncharted waters.  Give them wisdom for decisions they make, the information and knowledge they need to make good decisions, and patience for the Constitutional processes they are engaged in.  Turn off the voices of media and social media that create confusion or chaos in the decision making processes, but turn on their spiritual ears to hear what You are saying.  Pour out peace on their constituents who may be angry about the election processes, Covid restrictions, or a plethora of other things.  Protect these legislators - in body, mind, spirit, immune systems, properties, businesses, marriages and families - from the attacks of the enemy of our souls.  Give them strength and endurance when the battle feels long and hard. Remind them they do not fight against flesh and blood of constituents, colleagues, or governors, but the battle is with the forces of evil.  May each legislator's heart be tuned to you and your voice; help them to not be fainthearted or afraid but to trust you for wisdom and strength.  In the strong name of Christ we pray, Amen.

"For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength." (1 Cor. 1:25)

"When you go to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army greater than yours, do not be afraid of them, because the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt, will be with you. When you are about to go into battle, the priest shall come forward and address the army. He shall say: “Hear, Israel: Today you are going into battle against your enemies. Do not be fainthearted or afraid; do not panic or be terrified by them. For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.” (Deut. 20:1-4)

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." (Eph. 6:12)

"He will not grow tired or weary,

    and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
    and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
    and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord
    will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
    they will run and not grow weary,
    they will walk and not be faint." (Isa. 40:28-31)
